THINGS TO DO IN LANCELIN

Lancelin is a small coastal WA town with plenty of family-friendly things to do, located just 90 minutes north of Perth. Visit the Pristine Beaches

You won’t be able to miss Lancelin Island, which is about 500m from the mainland. Its home to seals and plenty of birds, and is best explored during the summer months. Take your time getting across via kayak or SUP board and explore the island’s western side and beach coves.

Visit the Lancelin Sand Dunes

Located just a short drive from the town centre, the sand dunes are at the top of the list of things to do in Lancelin, for any visitor to the area. Some of the largest in the state, they stand over 30 meters high and are around 2km long. They offer a thrilling experience for sandboarding, off-road driving, or taking a guided tour to learn more about the area.

Here are some tips for making the most of your day at the Lancelin sand dunes and having an unforgettable experience:

  1. Arrive early: Beat the crowds and explore before the day’s heat sets in.

A popular spot for these water-based sports. The strong winds and flat water make it a great place to try your hand at these activities. Two great spots to try include Main Break and Back Beach, which are north and south of Experience Lancelin Holiday Park, respectively.

Visit the Lancelin Wind Festival

Held every year in January, the Lancelin Wind Festival is a world-renowned windsurfing and kitesurfing competition.

Take a Fishing Trip with one of the Local Charter Companies

Lancelin is known for its sheltered bay, offshore reefs and a charter will offer a wide variety of fish, including Snapper, Dhufish, and Pink Snapper.

The Lancelin Jetty is the best fishing spot on land, which produces Whiting, Herring, Flathead, and Mulloway. As with most jetty fishing, it is best fished at dawn, dusk, and at night.

Visit the Pinnacles Desert

Located about an hour’s drive from Lancelin. The Pinnacles are a collection of amazing limestone formations from approximately 25,000 years ago when the sea receded and left deposits of seashells.

They are a unique and fascinating natural wonder and a great spot for photos. Adventure tours are available, both day and night.
